International Day for Biological Diversity

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. This year the theme of IDB is “Be part of the Plan”, encouraging governments, indigenous peoples and local-communities, non-governmental organisations, lawmakers, businesses and individuals to highlight the ways in which they are supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan. Everyone has a role to play.

The celebration of this new round of signatories on this day demonstrates their commitment to the call to action to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, also referred to as The Biodiversity Plan.
