DWS: Amerikaanse banenrapport niet zwak genoeg voor 50 basispunten

Algemeen aandacht omhoog alert

Christian Scherrmann, US economist at asset manager DWS, commented on Friday's US jobs report:

'Overall, the August numbers were weak, but certainly not as weak as markets may have feared given the amount of rate cuts currently priced. We think the Fed remains on track for a first 25 basis point cut in September - the economy is slowing, not crashing, and a soft landing remains a plausible base case. That said, experience suggests that self-sustaining forces can take over once labor markets begin to move toward weakness. It is now up to the Fed to counteract this. That is why we expect the central bank to cut rates three times this year and three times next year - in 25 basis point increments, of course.'
