ASI: 'Onzeker of Duitsland met stimuleringsbeleid recessie kan afwenden'
Hierbij een commentaar van Paul Diggle, hoofdeconoom bij vermogensbeheerder Aberdeen Standard Investments, op het jongste Duitse groeicijfer:
“The GDP contraction appears to have been driven by a big net trade drag, which is consistent with the deep industrial recession Germany is going through. Domestic demand apparently held up ok, but the big question is how long this resilience can last in the face of persistent trade war uncertainty and sluggish global trade. There are already cracks starting to form in employment trends and investment intentions, while consumers are increasing precautionary savings. All in all, the German economy is teetering on recession, and it’s not clear that fiscal or monetary stimulus is willing or able to avert it.”
